India China Border: The first round of joint patrolling has been completed after the agreement between India and China in Demchok and Depsang areas along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). According to the agreement, it was agreed to conduct coordinated patrolling once a week and military withdrawal has taken place in these areas.
According to the recent agreement, each side will patrol both areas once a week. Indian and Chinese troops will conduct weekly patrols in each area, which is expected to support de-escalation efforts and confidence-building measures between the two countries.
Talks will continue between the two countries regarding LAC
After several rounds of talks at political, diplomatic and military levels, agreement was reached for withdrawal of troops and coordinated patrolling. Both sides will continue to hold discussions at the ground level at regular intervals to ensure stability of the situation.
The deadlock started from 2020
Verification patrols have been conducted by both sides to confirm the disengagement process as agreed, which is a positive step towards reducing tension in the area. The development comes after a four-year standoff between India and China in eastern Ladakh, which began with a violent clash in the Galwan Valley in June 2020, leading to escalating military tensions.
India and China had announced the agreement
India announced on October 21 that it had reached an agreement with China on patrolling the LAC, ending more than four years of military standoff that erupted between the two countries at Galwan in June 2020. It began after deadly clashes between soldiers.
